Overview
Use this design system to build digital products and services that meet customer needs while maintaining Queensland Government branding and WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards. The system supports the Digital service standards and provides what you need to create consistent experiences with reusable components and UX guidance.
Before you start
Learn about the foundations that underpin the QGDS in the core styles section and then dive deeper into each component’s purpose, behaviour, usage, and accessibility requirements. This context will help you create designs that are consistent and aligned with QGDS standards.
Our glossary explains terms commonly used throughout the QGDS.
If you're adopting the QGDS for your website or digital product, please email us at qgdesignsystem@qld.gov.au to discuss your options.
Resources and tools
Figma QGDS UI Kit and shared libraries
Design and prototype in Figma using our ready-made components, patterns and templates. If you’re new to Figma, we recommend starting with their Figma Design for beginners course.
Refer to Figma's pricing page for information on seat options and costs (shown in USD).
Access options
Connected (recommended)
For access to the managed versions of QGDS files and libraries. These options ensure components in your files stay up-to-date with the latest version.
- Join the Queensland Government Figma enterprise account. Get access to all shared libraries, automatic updates and a dedicated workspace for your team. Best for active, ongoing projects. We manage the Figma plan and pass costs through to your team.
- We can host a connected project for your team while you manage your own Figma plan and seats. We are limited to 15 connected projects and prioritise short-term projects with specific delivery dates.
- View access to the QGDS UI Kit. Allows you to copy components from the UI Kit file and paste them into your own design files. Shared QGDS libraries won't appear in your assets panel. You manage your own Figma plan and seats.

Offline, point-in-time copy
The QGDS UI Kit (Community) file allows you to make a copy to your own Figma workspace and publish it as a local library.
This option is only suitable for projects or initiatives that won’t be revisited or further refined.
Your copy won't be connected to QGDS shared libraries and won't receive any updates. This means when we publish a new version, your design files will be out of date.
Mobile applications
If you’re working on a mobile application project, email us at qgdesignsystem@qld.gov.au to request access to the QGDS UI Kit: Mobile apps. It’s currently in beta and we invite you to share your feedback.
